Election Candidate: Fish Welfare Initiative
Fish Welfare Initiative (FWI) works to reduce the suffering of farmed fish as much as possible. Specifically, it does this through a) researching cost effective welfare interventions, and b) implementing them. It focuses most of its work in India and China, which, given the vast scale of fish farmed there, it has identified as high-priority countries. It estimates that it has helped over 1M farmed fish thus far (see www.fwi.fish/impact for more information). FWI is a recommended charity by Animal Charity Evaluators, and has been the recipient of previous grants by Open Philanthropy, the EA Animal Welfare Fund, and Peter Singer.
